Word has been received here of the death of David Sidener at his home in Panora, Iowa, on Friday, Jan. 10, the cause being lung trouble. Mr. Sidener was a former citizen of Crawfordsville, and is a brother of William Sidener, of Yountsville, and a cousin of W. K. Wallace, of this city. The Panora Vedette gives the following account: “Mr. Sidener was born in Fayette County, Kentucky, October 28, 1831. When but a lad of six years his parents removed to Montgomery County, Ind.
He was married to Miss Maria Miller April 3, 1856. To them were born seven children, all living. They are Mrs. Hannah Wilson, Mrs. Iro Hart, of Panora, Mrs. Lizzie Batschelet, of Panora, Mrs. Nettie Plane, of Garfield, Washington, Frank Sidener, of Maxwell, Mrs. Emily Mathison, of Yale, and Mrs. Eva Hall, of Panora. There are fifteen grandchildren living and one dead. His wife and children all survive him.
In 1875 Mr. Sidener and family came from Indiana to Guthrie County, settling on a farm in North East Cass, where they resided till six years ago when the two parents removed to Panora.
Mr. Sidener was a member of the Christian Church, having united with that church in Crawfordsville, Ind., when about eighteen years old. He ever took an active part in the work of his church and was always one of its most faithful and conscientious members. He was a man who will be missed in the community as his life was such that he ever had the sincere esteem and friendship of all who knew him.
He was a member of the Panora Masonic Lodge since Nov. 2, 1881, transferring on that date his membership from Crawfordsville, Indiana. He became a Mason when twenty one years of age. He was also a member of Hope Chapter of the Eastern Star.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon in charge, as he requested, of the Masonic Order.”

An Omission

In our account of the death of David Sidener there was an omission of the fact that he had two sisters in the community, Mrs. Allen Robertson and Mrs. Alexander Wilson, both living near Crawfordsville, and was a brother of J. B. Sidener, of Indianapolis.
